About Lorissa Hooper

Born in 1979 to a loving family who has genetically gifted me with an artistic ability. From a very early age, creativity has been part of my framework. In high school, writing became my passion where hundreds of poems were written and several short stories. At 19, a house fire tragically stole all works of art that had been delivered from my hands and with it my poetic days had ended.

Several years later, with my flanges burning to hold a pen, the spark had reignited into the form of pencil sketches. Black and white became my form of expression. Several hours spent at a time on detailed lines and swirls that can be reflected some of my paintings today.

In 2007, I created my first piece of furniture, a 3 piece corner bookshelf that is now 2 separate bookshelves and a toy box. This is also the first time I picked up a paintbrush. On my daughters shelf, there are three dolls, as she was 6 when it was painted. On my son's shelf, there is a circus train with animals and a clown. Since 2007, I have created a bunk bed with a desk and two shoe racks. I have also refinished a dresser that is now in my bedroom. If I had to choose a favorite smell, sawdust would be top on my list.

My most recent paintings are inspired by nature, sketches and words from friends. I find a joy, peace and relaxation that I have never felt before in creating them. I am open for suggestions on what to paint next so feel free to peek my interest :)

My story is never over, so stay tuned....
